After Kota Kinabalu, we headed south to Kinarut and found an amazing hotel next to the beach with swimming pool and everything. We had such a great time, relaxing, watching sunsets galore and stealing the swimming pool off all the kids hehe. On the second day we rented out a canoe and headed over to the island opposite. Great fun!!!We got caught up in a storm on the way back though, the sea was still super calm so it wasn't scary at all. It was raining so hard though, we got absolutely drenched hehe. I (kim) couldn't row cos I was laughing so much LOL!!!!
We unfortunetly made the wrong decision and left for the North of the Borneo: Kudat. We had heard that they were amazing white sandy beaches to see....Well they might be sandy beaches but we couldn't find them...the locals haven't heard of them and the taxi's will only take you there for a small fortune, so we gave up and ended up playing snooker instead.
We somehow managed to catch a cold...I don't know how you catch a cold in this heat? Could it be from lack of food? The chicken fried rice was absolutely discusting in Kudat, the pieces of chicken were grey and mainly bone (Where does the actual meat go?) so we ended up surviving on KFC...Not much better than the chicken fried rice in the end hehe But we survived and escaped back to Kota Kinabalu for some proper food!
The weather has turned here by the way, we'v had rain for the past 3 days...So we'v been a little stuck and have played pool, gone to the cinema and watched a lot of the Olympics.....When you get a room with a TV over here, don't beleive them! They's only one channel in English and it only shows whatever they are watching at the desk. Usually the Olympics which is not too bad until you have to watch synchronised swimming hehe. The worst was when they put Top gear on and then promptly took it off again....You should have seen Tom's face ;)
Off to Kinabalu Park in the Mountains tomorrow :) and we're looking forward to some walking (fingers crossed the weather gets better!). Should be able to see some decent widlife and apparently amazing views of mountains. We haven't actually seen Mount Kinabalu because of the clouds since we arrived, it's 4 095 metres tall so should be impressive :)
Lots of Love to everyone, Tom and Kim
