Wills and James Road Trip
Day Thirty-six 19.4.05
The weather has vastly improved today although we did miss the first part of the day as a lie in was in order. If I didn't have an incredible desire to pee when I wake up I could quite happily stay in bed until noon. Will is definitely an early bird and continues to scratch about from about 6am. We will have to invest in a mattress topper to make the bed more comfy. If not only to give a better nights sleep but to encourage William to stay in it longer.
We decided to have a picnic on the beach. James prepared a mixed salad, cheeses, chorizo sausage, bread and drink. It looked as though we were on our way to a party to a Tupperware convention as we had fully utilised every container we had.
We walked to the reception to find out how ordinary folk went to the beach on foot. The kind lady (who spoke excellent English.) advised us we had to ask one of the staff who would let us out and if we told them what time we would be back would let us back in again. No doubt with this advised 'window of opportunity' they would ransack our pitch and take what they wanted from the van and awning.
Feeling less cynical than normal we decided to walk round the perimeter of the site and ask them to let us back in the 'short cut' at 3pm, no 4pm. It was really windy on the beach but we found a secluded bay all to ourselves and got protection from the wind from a jutting out rock. Once out of the wind it was incredibly hot and after about and hour we had to move to a windier position to cool down. The sea was rough with continuous 2 metre+ waves. We had also read it was particularly unsafe to swim here due to strong currents. We guess we'll have to wait for the Algarve for a decent swim.
The agreed time to be back meant that James was clock watching (much to William's annoyance) and also meant that we headed back far too early and ended up waiting at the gate for the man to let us back in. Fortunately he turned up early too .
