Wills and James Road Trip
We drove from Lisbon to Peniche today, this was because we had passed Obidos on the way to Lisbon and thought it looked nice. There are no campsites near Obidos and Peniche is about 15km away.
Peniche itself is also quite interesting. We walked into town which is about 2kms, it was not long before are legs felt tired again because of all the walking we did in Lisbon yesterday. We were also a little bit hung over from our night on the town.
Whilst walking totown we went across what appeared to be a shanty town area, it was at this stage that our return journey would be in a taxi.
On arrival in the town we had a lovely ice cream and set off for the fortress museum. This what surprisingly interesting as it had been used as a prison from the 1930's until the 1970's for people who were against the dictatorship of Salaza. It was facinating seeing the cells and photographs of that time and to appreciate that it was not so long ago.
We were quite tired by this time so got in our taxi back to the campsite to read. William has got into his own book now 'Fear Its Self', thanks to Carolyne and Pete for lending it. The campsite is full of Scouts and Guides and although they are being reasonably well behaved we have just spotted the leader get his banjo and drums out of his car. So we were glad when it started raining and they had to go in their tents.
Later in the evening we could clearly hear a disco going on in the campsite bar we would have joined them but we didn't bother as we could appreciate their music from the van with all the windows done up and our dvd playing.
