A twenty minute boat ride and we were back to mainland and the cities celebrations were in full swing!
We walked the short walk from the harbour up to the main square and we stumbled across a fantastic street parade, which went on and on and on! Stood there with Disa a Kiwi girl we had met on the tour we were knee bending and clapping along with trying to snap as many photos as possible, they were all wearing the most amazing colourful costumes. With trumpet and drum music throughout the atmosphere was great the streets where solidly lined with onlookers and boppers. there were sequins, fur, feathers, bells, head dressed, they had gone all out.
The heat was around 27 degrees today and I can only imagine how hot it must've been in their costumes dancing away, some wearing big thick bull costumes, velvet long dresses. The men wore leather cowboy boots with bells attached adding to the sound of the parade.
This is an annual occasion to celebrate another year of the city of Puno.
Celebrations rolling into the night, we head back out with Disa after a few hours chilling in the hostel to catch the music on the main stages, a walk around the busy streets. We had street food tea and a beer sat with the locals in their street bar. Locals sat around crates of beer sat on stalls, all just gathered having a giggle. You can buy from them and they will pull a stall out for you. Whether this is a normal thing or for celebration I don't know but it was pretty cool. One of our best days of the trip for sure.

Jody Brilliant timing on your visit here guys. What a wonderful tradition. Having looked at the photos it looks like everyone really enjoys it but like you say must be roasting with those costumes. Another unforgettable visit for you x
