We arrive in Palenque late and over the city we choose to stay in the jungle with the monkeys and Mosquitoes!! Only a ten minute drive from town but with no wifi, no shops, one restaurant we were feeling at one with the trees!! Our accommodation was a tiny en-suite cabana hut which was really cute. Don Muchos being their one place to get food we were in there a fair bit. Luckily the food was good, with live music and the occasional swinging visit by a monkey. They give quite a show when enticed with rich tea biscuits by the staff. The Palenque jungle retreat area is extremely hippie, with an over powering smell of Incense sticks, everyone looking slightly spaced out, selling jewellery or bandanas and most heavily bamboo tattooed. Our second day of Palenque we take an organised your to see the famous Aztec ruins, Agua Azul and Misol-Ha.
