Trailor on Tour
We decided to spend some time on the beach at Waipu Cove, before setting off around the peninsula on the no 25 highway. The road around the area was beautiful, with the sea on one side and hills immediately on the other. This road is often closed as it is quite common for the sea to come up over it, but fortunately this was not the case today. The drive around the Coromandel was like a race track - very windy, with hairpin bends, which meant very slow driving and lots of gear changes. It would have been so much more fun in a small, fast sporty car - oh well!
Lunch was eaten by Otama beach down a gravel road, and yes you've guessed it - more tuna, but in pita bread this time.
From here we headed into the Bay of Planety and found a campsite at the end of a spit of land at a place called Bowentown. We sat on the beach and watched the sun setting before heading back to the van for dinner - NO TUNA, but a very lovely mushroom risotto, we have headed your advice Nat!
After the obligatory few tumblers of wine, we were amazed to see a glowing orange orb in the sky - not too much alcohol, but a very beautiful moon. And so to bed.......S & N xx
