Arrived at Chumpon ferry port ready for our quick one and a half hour trip across the Gulf of Thailand to Koh Tao only to dind out the catamarans engines had failed so we had to wait a full 6 hours in the sweltering heat for the next one to arrive!
Eventually got across to the island at 14:00 Thai time and were promptly escorted to our "lurve" shack on the back of a jeep. The shack itself was decent enough and consisted of an all in one shower and toilet in the corner of the room. Chris was tempted to have a crap while having a shower but thought better of it!
Went for a quick wander around the place, the island itself is only 20sqkm, and went for a swim in the pool which overlooks the ocean! The roads were nothing but dirt tracks with only bikes, and scooters buzzing around - a real difference to the hussle and bussle of Bangkok life.
Went for food and drinks in the evening and chilled out in the tranquil surroundings of the island. Went to Sairee Beach down the road which was full of beach side bars, and seating consisted of bean bags on the beach surrounded by candles in the sand.
We woke up the next day, after necking one to many cocktails, only for Gav to realise he had been swimming with his clothes on, oblivious to the fact his pockets were full of valuables, including his newly purchased camera from Hong Kong! What a plonker!
Next day hired some quad bikes and explored the island from side to side. It really is paradise!
Heading off to Ko Phangan via catamaran so will keep you updated and hopefully wont lose any more pictures!!
