We stepped off the plane having arrived safely in Hong Kong at 01:30 GMT after a decent 12 hour sleep!! We promptly struggled to find the hotel wandering around HongKong Island with our heavy, over packed bags. We eventually arrived at the hotel - already fed up with back packing! - only to find out we had been upgraded to Executive floor, result!!
Having dumped the bags (thank god!) and tipping "Dave" the bell boy for his hard work we headed off to explore the sights and sounds of Hong Kong. The city itself is so clean and spacious it puts Blighty to shame and we managed to explore with ease on the MTR (their underground system).
First of all we sounded out the main bar/pub/club streets on the island where we came across a pub quiz - Tuesday night, a pub quiz, it was like we'd never left home!! However when the results came in we promptly came last so we spent the next 10 hours drowning our sorrows and getting smashed!
Spent the next few days exploring Hong Kong. We visited The Giant Buddha by catching the Sky Rail but being two Brits abroad in a climate above 3 degrees we went out in t-shirts only for the heavens to open and we got absolutely drenched! At night we went to the Temple Street market - full of cheap, fake, designer gear - and had our palms read. Unfortunately events that evening took a turn for the worse and we had to dispose of photographic evidence and a memory card was lost..... more to be explained upon our return.
Visited Victoria Peak which is the highest point on the island and overlooks the whole city and its amazing sky line. At 8pm every evening the citys sky scrapers have a laser show where all the buildings light up so we managed to catch this from this awesome view point.
Left Hong Kong and its cleanliness for the dirty, prostitute ridden streets of Bangkok. We cant wait!!............
