Travel the Planet
In readiness for our intended 'grand' tandem cycle tour, we thought it wise to see everything would fit on the bike! We have toured previously but packing for a week is not quite the same as packing for a much longer trip. The tandem and kit including camping gear weighs in at 170 pounds (77kgs), so wherever we go we will be going slowly! We are planning to set off mid August starting from home and heading for Europe and beyond.........

Andy I trust you're going to test this full pack out for a few days before you start the adventure. ;-)
Tony We have done 2 one week tours (Cornwall and Scotland - nice and flat) with a similar load but that was with a trailer which takes a lot of strain off the rear wheel and tandem frame. We decided to ditch the trailer as it causes more problems than it solves. we did a 3 day tour well loaded without the trailer and the bike coped. Most people heavy touring on tandems do so without a trailer but back wheels can fail - we will face that if it happens.
Andy Good luck. Being a bit of a minimalist, the sight of all that kit gives me the collywobbles ;-)
Tam and Rob Wow, 170kg! Pop Henri, Holly and Rudi on a little diet before you head off
Nigel Pritchard Good luck to you both
