We decided in December that we wouldn't go back to Europe to continue our tour but head somewhere completely different - South America! However once we started researching it we found so many trekking / hiking opportunities that we wondered how on earth we could make the most of our time there as we travel so slowly on Titty and South America is so huge. In our 100 days in Europe we clocked up almost 3000 miles on Titty but only had 11 days hiking - that was not our original intention. We realised that continuing our tour we would have to make a compromise on something and the difficult decision was made to leave Titty at home. We are flying to Santiago in Chile with rucsacs not a tandem and the plan is to trek, raft, horse ride, etc, etc. Travelling on buses, trains & boats means we will have time to explore and not just ride through. Donna wants to learn to ski whilst we are away which was impossible on a cycle tour as you have to avoid the snow! Donna also plans to find some great beaches. So the blog 'Pedal the Planet' has become 'Travel the Planet' but in reality we hope it is 'Trek the Planet' - with public transport between the treks of course! It's forecast to be 30 Deg C for the next week in Santiago - wey hey!

Andy Buen viaje ! Menos es major ;-)
Peter Burnett Brilliant, its your trip and you do what you want, and not what others might expect you to do. Make the most of it and keep us upto date on what you get upto. Pete
andy I see there's a spellchecker on this site trying to make sense of my Spanish - Menos es mejor ! Good luck both - enjoy all that South American food, wine, scenery, weather ... etc. If you need any recommendations en route, our Liz might be able to help.
Tony Cheers Pete & Andy for your comments. My Spanish is nil but I hope to change that.
Tam Hope you both have a wonderful time exploring, whether by foot, horse or bus. Please stay safe and keep sending updates as so wonderful to hear all about your adventures. Take care. Rob and Tam xx
