I spent a bit too long on Koh Tao but I loved it, I loved the beautiful beach, I loved the life style. I had cushty accommodation and of course the diving.
I went to Koh Tao to do my PADI course and I got addicted!! I got the diving bug big time and signed up to continue on to an Advanced Open Water Course, to prepare myself for the Aussie diving, Beth Coates and Alanah Springfield, be ready for buddy action :-D
I loved doing all the skills underwater and the concept of breathing and being in another world. For my advanced course I done five modules, peak performance buoyancy where I had to Hoover like a pencil with my nose just above the sand and swim upside down through an obstacle course :-) I then did a deep dive to 30m and navigation... Which could do with a bit more practice, a wreck Dive and a night dive, which was a completely different experience. It was great seeing the fish and other sea life behaving naturally as they didn't expect us to be there.
We saw a high Jenkins sting ray and a yellow spotted sting ray, a massive crab, puffa fish, box fish, I got threatened by a territorial trigger fish, that gave me 'the warning', and on one of the first dives we saw a tiny little sea horse, which apparently has doubled in size in the last month :-)
Overall, a fantastic experience and a great week!!
