Halong Bay Day One... We had a 4 hour bus journey to our boat in Halong Bay Harbour, it was torrential rain pretty much most of the way. But by the time we got to the boat the sun came out to play :) We sailed to the Sung Sot Cave, which is one of the new seven wonders of the world, apparently it wasn't discovered until 1993. I flew to Vietnam this morning, I left the hotel at 4am spent an hour on the flight, and a hell of a lot longer waiting for my baggage to appear on the carousel the other end... I swear it was slower than Gambia!! When boarding the plane at Bangkok we had to get on a bus from the gate to the plane. It took about 20minutes and it was the strangest journey. It was like it took us through the plane graveyard!! There was so many planes with engines missing, windows ...

Today I went to see Damneon Saduak Floating Market, it's a fair drive out of Bangkok into the rice fields and little villages. This is actually a floating village. All the houses are built on stilts, some are very big and they are connected by a river. It was like a network, there were side canals and a Main Street/River, all interconnecting. They use 'speedboats', long canoes with a massive motor and really long propeller, to get around. Then the actual market...

Omg the weather was amazing today!! My Flavela tour was rescheduled from 10 to 2, which was poo as I was going to try and fit a city tour in after, but instead I managed to cancel the Flavela and go on the City Tour instead. Seeing as I had just the one day in Rio I wanted to see as much as possible!! So I had time to spare so I popped to the beach, played with the waves and had a quick toasting on each side :) I completely underestimated Rio... It's massive!!...

Ilha grande was a nice little beach retreat for me :) Unfortunately I didn't get to see anything, except the beautiful view from the beach and treated myself to double helpings of mint choc chip ice cream :) When I arrived I was transferred to another hostel as mine was being refurbished, I lucked out big time!! I'd gone from being booked into a 12 bed dorm to a private double bed with ensuite for no extra charge, plus a nice fresh towel folded on the bed waiti...
