Waking up early again. Can never sleep past 7.00am, another amazing shower we had breakfast together swapped details with Aileen and Kerrie before venturing off to see Andreas. Andreas' parents only lived 10 blocks away. It was agreed we would meet Andreas there and leave our bags while he then went to work and we would stroll around town. His mum made us some juice which was really nice. We only had 3 hours to kill before we would drive to Andreas house so we decided to head to the bus station and book our tickets to the next town for Thursday!!
The station had a little Mall, I brought a cap as I keep getting mini headaches from the sun.. Funds running low we went to the bank. I put my card in, COP$400,000, transaction complete thank you.....but no money came out!!! I tried again......transaction complete thank you.....still no money, I then showed a lady who works in the bank. Third time, transaction complete thank you.....NO MONEY. She calls me to a desk where I can withdraw money manually with my passport and a swipe machine.... Finally getting our money. I am panicking that the 3 ATM transactions have taken the money out of my account, money I havnt received!!
The bank advices us to check in a couple days, but should be ok. I'm not fully convinced...
We then decided to go to the Art museum. We must have got half way when we gave up walking and stopped for Icecream! Time had flown by... It was 3pm... We rushed back to meet Andreas. We met his dad who was nice. Finally we left. We got down stairs and met a women and daughter who instantly seemed lovely!! Who are these people. We finally realised that Andreas lived with this family and the girl was Andreas girlfriend Laura and the other lady her mum. Luckily they both knew English so we could have conversation on the way to their home. We stopped off at the top of the mountain as we left Medellin that gave us a great panoramic view of Medellin. Medellin is a city that sits in the bottom of a valley with segments of the town creeping up the sides. It looks so beautiful.
Finally arriving at their home. It is beautiful. It sits on the side of one of the many Andes Montains and gives a great view of a lake below. The house is set at 4 levels. Not like an upstairs downstairs layout, kind of like steps.
Me meet Laura's sister Erika and her son. They also live here, but in a granny flat at the bottom of the garden.
Erika is really nice. Her English is very good as she used to live in Australia. We had common group as we both loved art and painting. I showed her my work and discussed the styles we liked. She was just learning about numerology which is telling some about their personality and potential by using their date of birth and name. Erika kindly done my name and translated my results. I was a 7. She read my result and I must admit I was impressed it was very accurate!!!
From here we ended up drinking tea and talking about religion and I'm pretty sure creating our own one. It was a deep conversation but I really enjoyed it. I could have chatted to Erika all night with a cuppa tea. I instantly liked Erika. To be honest I instantly liked this whole family. If i was Michael Barrymore they a My Kind of People. They have a brother but he kept himself to himself.
That evening Andreas and Laura took us to El Retiro's main square where we tried Papa criolla its a small fried yellow potatoes with lime and salt it was so nice. There version of our Chips. We had a couple beers and got tipsy with Aguardiente Antioqueno which was like a watery Sambuca. We finished the evening playing Pool which I'm pleased to say we won 3-0.....
Shattered we headed back and had some mushroom Arepas which is a dish made of ground corn dough or cooked flour mixed with water and moulded into a disc. You can then add pretty much anything to the top.
