Vikki spent a quiet day soaking up the opportunity for R&R. Tessa went diving at a different dive school than the rest of the group as recommended by our friend JP. Here she tells you how her day was:
The Absolute Africa boat headed off with divers and snorkelers to the Mnemba atoll, one of the top recommended dive locations on Zanzibar. My dive school had cancelled their trip there due to rough conditions and as I bounced off to our closer dive site I certainly wasn't envying the others and their journey. We did two dives, on the first we saw a huge turtle complete with ramXX (sucker fish), an unusual leaf fish which walks along the bottom and some small scorpion fish. Unfortunately the seahorses weren't out to play. The second dive was more scenically beautiful with lots of red soft corals, anemones and my favourite clown fish.
We came back together for dinner and decided to try the hotel next door. We ordered a lovely bottle of South African Chenin Blanc. And then two different dishes where we went halves - one was kingfish in a Swahili coconut sauce whilst the other was a vegetable curry. Accompaniments were rice and chipati. A delicious meal to round off a fab day.
