A wake up call before sun rise this morning! Although we shouldn't be tired because we were asleep by 8.30pm last night!
We had to wake up the guy in reception for him to take us down to the bus station in his truck, there were people about but mainly monks collecting their dollar for the day.
The bus was at 7am, we realised that it would get to Chisng Mai at 10am so we would have a three and half hour wait at the bus stop until we got the second bus down to Sukhothai!
The minivan left dead on time and he wasn't fart arsing about, he was going for it! We stopped for a short break after an hour or so and then it was full throttle to Chiang Mai, we got there dead on 10am!
It was a lot cooler in Chiang Mai than the other day, Sarah and Mike said that they had had a really bad rain and thunderstorm two nights ago so that probably helped the hot atmosphere a lot!
We managed to change our bus from 1.30 to 12midday to Sukhothai which is better because now we don't have to wait around as long and it's a five hour bus journey so we will get there before it's dark!
We grabbed some noodle soup from the same restaurant as the other day and then went to a coffee shop to charge our phones and use their wifi, obviously we had to buy a drink aswell!
This time the bus was a proper bus and not a minivan, it was hardly full but was more like a tin on square blocks! You felt every bump in the road! The second journey took 5 hours. We thought that we were getting off at the correct stop by saying the 'old city' but we soon realised when we got our bags off the bus the we were by the historical site and our hotel was 6 mile down the road in the 'new city'. So we chucked our bags back on the bus and we got dropped off at the bus station in the new city.
There isn't much about the place, it seems to be a small one street town with one of everything that's needed and a few markets over the river. Our hotel is nice (EZ house) again for £10 per night between us we really can't go wrong!
We didn't bother showering before tea - such mingas' we are!
We went next door and hired a scooter ready for tomorrow and went and scouted out a little restaurant for some grub!
Food is still fairly cheap so prices aren't going up just yet thank god! We aren't that close to the city, and we have been told that down south in the Phuket area it gets a lot more expensive!
We were back at the hotel by 7pm to shower and go to bed, sitting on out bums travelling all day has been hard work! Haha.
