Up and out to hire bikes, dad and Ross got one each and uncle Terry drove the queenies in the 4x4 truck which was just a piece of junk on wheels with hardly any gears, and a broken handbrake; so funny seeing them jugging along
sat in the back raised up in open top whilst their chauffeur tried to manoeuvre the heep of junk.
First stop was the big Buddha, it rained as soon as we got there, a monk in his orange robe came out of no where and stopped me and mum going in until we covered our shoulders so a beach towel it was. We walked to the top, beautiful decor and architect on it, they seem to take care of the cleanliness of their statues and temples on the side that they prey, around the back is a bomb sight, rubbish everywhere and tatty and old broken bits from god knows what.
We could bang the bells that were hanging around the outside of the Buddha with a plank of wood, not sure what for but we done it.
Had a look around the shops outside and a man had made 8ft sculptures such as captain jack sparrow, terminator, and transformers out of scrap metal and nuts and bolts. The technique was incredible on them all, and they were only £3000 and that was with free shipping to the UK! They are worth so much more, so much talent just wasted sitting in a shop! Quite sad really..
Feeling the hunger pain we stopped at the make shift kitchen attached to the side of a motorbike, we had some savoury pancakes, probably not the cleanest of things but I'm hoping my stomach is southeast asian'd proof of stomach bugs by now!
There were some huge black clouds on our way down to the elephants and waterfalls so we made a quick stop in TESCO(yes tesco in Thailand), it chucked it down just as we pulled up, thankfully making it just in time!
Coffee stop and some more food, we are all hungry all the time here... well me n Scott are. I decided to bite the bullet and get my iPhone screen fixed because it's only a matter of time before it completely stops working! Left my phone in the hands of an unknown trustworthy phone shop man -_- and picked it up later on.
The rain stopped after an hour, well eased off more so. So me and Scott popped our ponchos on, I'm guessing this looked pretty amusing - what looked like two ghosts flapping about on a moped in the rain! Mum and aunt Lynne had towels draped over them and dad and Ross had to take the brunt of it, uncle terry was happy, the only good thing about driving the truck was he didn't get wet in the rain! Haha.
We carried on to waterfall number 2 where there was elephant trekking. Dark clouds still threatening us with rain but at least it was warm, well sticky warm!
We got there eventually, the elephants were just being walked around a track in between long grass which didn't look that good and they were using the hooks to jab them to move which we didn't like so we going to leave it till koh phangan where we have more time.
It was a very very steep 1-2km; me Ross and dad walked it the others got in the back of a huge 4x4 truck that had seats on the roof over the top of the windscreen! And guess which dare devils decided to jump on there... Mum and aunty Lynne! All you could was the pair of them screaming, we were walking up and afterwards realised why they were screaming, it was pretty much a vertical drop! Haha I don't think I would have even liked that and I'm good with heights and safe to say a little bit of an adrenaline junkie!
Walked over these cricked bridges over a waterfall, they were propped up in between the trees and rocks, it rattled everyte me someone lifted a leg, and there were about 15 people on this bridge with no hand railings. Of course health and safety gone mad over here! Haha.
We found the waterfall, everyone was jumping in this tiny rock pool which we found out was very deep with a very strong under current! Dad got taken to the end of it where there was a fairly steep drop with a pointy rock at the bottom, I was grabbing hold of his shorts to pull him back he couldn't get grip of rocks, Scott and Ross came to help me.. Dad thought Scott was pushing him over the edge when it was really the water!
It was really good up there, they used all the natural sources to build things and make activities, they had slides in amongst the rocks going into a rock pool but they were sadly turned off, realised this after the palarva of crossing the waterfall to get to them!
The heavens opened again whilst we were driving back, we had the ponchos unlike everyone else haha!
Food was nice tonight but service was a little poor, Ross had king prawns and they weren't cooked, the bill came and the expected him to pay for them, so of course he refused and they asked him to pay half because it was sabotaged only because he took the shells and heads off them, which is what is supposed to be done!
He refused anyways ha!
Tropical Murphys after wards (always end up in an Irish bar somewhere!)
We all got stupidly drunk, the chuckle brothers had a pint of Guinness each (£6)!! Think it went down in lumps a bit then haha!
Mum and aunty Lynne had their tiny water bottles filled with 'naughty water' (gin and vodka) they were so funny to watch sat next to each other a quick tip of the bottle in the glass with sprite they had ordered; only mum would pour a 25ml shot of gin in and aunty Lynne was pouring about 100ml of export vodka in hers haha! No wonder she was sitting on Ronald McDonald statue talking and kissing him on the head and then we had to carry her home! Haha!
We seem to have been the last people on the strip walking home at 2.30am! Dirty stop outs!
