We found a noodle soup restaurant for breakfast, and it was delicious! There was cloves of garlic on the table which you could help yourself to including all the spices!
It was 9am when we finished and went to spot some good beaches to relax on, we noticed that they don't surface very early here! The bank was supposed to be open at 8am and was still closed. Shutters were down on shops, hardly anyone on the road, it was sort of creepy. This huge I and has hardly anyone living on it!
We drove all the way to the bottom of the island, the beaches eventually got better, the water and the beaches were nothing on Phuket and Koh Phi Phi, they're just plain old beaches and they're quite dirty as well.
We passed a few of the horrible marquee monkeys on the side of the road that looked meaner than usual wanting to pinch something; there was no way we were going to go on a beach near near to where these b*****s were! Not fancying a fight with a monkey over nicking my belongings today!
We passed the two police checks again, it's pretty funny to see the difference between them here and in Phuket. The ones in Phuket are a lot more on the go and you can tell they know how to get the money out of motorists, especially tourists! Any little fine and they'll grab some money from you! Here, on Koh Lanta we were cautious of driving through the police checks, they didn't care at all what you were doing! They were reading the paper under their gazebo, they had a BBQ going and the one police check they brought their flat screen tv outside to watch the thai boxing! Absolutely mad! They haven't been brain washed into scamming tourists here yet I don't think! Even the locals seem a lot nicer.
One beach we stopped at had a huge resort on it, the resort was absolutely dead with about 5 people there! The beach was dirty and had sewage going through it. If I was to book a holiday to Thailand and we came to Koh Lanta I would be pretty disappointed!
We couldn't find any better beaches than the one we were at yeaterday so we went back there, there was only about 10 people on it, the water was alright. Not as clear as most places though. At about 1pm Scott got bored and the clouds started to come in; we were supposed to be having scattered thunderstorms today.
So we drove back up to where we were staying, Scott got himself another bowl of noodle soup and I had a fruit shake from the vendors; it was made with real strawberries! Delicious!
We stayed in for the rest of the afternoon and had a nap.
Went into the old town, just around the corner from us for food. The restaurants are jutting out over the water, there was a nice atmosphere although it was wen better watching the lightning show! Hardly any thunder though which we couldn't quite figure out why!?
We got ourselves a banana and Nutella shake for dessert from the same street vendor as earlier.
They were even better tasting!
We got back to the hotel just in time for the heavens to open and the rain absolutely hammered it down! It was like billets falling from the sky!
And then we were left without power for about 20 minutes again! This afternoon we lost power for about 30 minutes just as I was about to go in the shower! Typical, as we had an electric shower!
