Surprisingly felt very well waking up at 8am this morning, my little comfy single bed did me well. I'm sure the fact I've been feeling s***ty was also partly to do with the bad bed I've been sleeping in because today I woke with no back pain and not feeling stiff! I'd say overall last night I had about 6 hours sleep which isn't bad given a night flight and getting to bed at 3am!
I slowly strolled down to breakfast and had a cheese omelette and cappuccino, before sauntering back up to the room, I figured eating a bit earlier is better incase when they land they want to eat straight away, I can also attempt to let the food pass not that I'm ever really successful with that though.
Back into bed, looking through attractions in the old town and different restaurants and bars, although there are tonnes of them I'm sure we will stumble on one later when they arrive!
I didn't need to check out until 12 so I left it until the very last minute before going. That way when they land at 1:30 and by the time they come from airport I'm not sat around too long as the next hotel is more of an apartment so I am not expecting a reception area to sit.
Cobble streets are a pain in the arse when you have three bloody bags, managed to find a street with normal pavement tiles, a little uneven but n
much easier than the cobble! Couldn't make out if it was cold or not, the sun with the clouds that have appeared (they're must be bringing them with them, not a cloud to be seen this morning before I left).
The wind was lovely and fresh, just a lovey European feels to the weather! And boy do these Europeans like to enjoy themselves! 12pm and the Music is pumping with well dressed people heading to the restaurants and their beer gardens to enjoy a drink.
I found one, because do I really want to sit and have more coffee for two hours? No… I'm on holiday.
So I stopped at a place only 400m from the next hotel at 'xclusive' it was pleasant, fairly quiet when I sat down in the outside / inside part of the restaurant. I ordered a bottle of pear somersby, little to my recollection that I was directly in front of a church … on a Sunday … drinking cider. Whooops. Well, keep the tradition going of drinking alcohol and sinning in front of religious buildings I guess haha.
I have to remember that they still chain smoke profusely in this part of the world and it absolutely stinks! I'm like a hound dog now because I never smell it any other time. Thankfully they left after a few and we were outside (partially) so I'm hoping I won't smell too bad.
Peaceful for a short while, I read my book and watched the world go by until a group of 6 loud ass Italian men came to the restaurant and sat down three times before settling on the one behind me, then the restaurant opened the roof slightly. LOVELY!! The sun was on me and I was drinking cider. Perfect…. Only not great for the three men on the table that were in the sun, so the entire restaurant suffered because the Romanians gave into them and shut it back instantly. Italians, the drama queens of Europe.
Mam and dad have landed! I'll leave around 2pm and head to the new place and wait for them. Hoping that they will only be an hour getting out! Fingers crosssssed!
They arrived off the bus around 2:45, yaaaah! so not bad going, hugs all around!! I did manage to go down to another place to have a drink nearby the apartment block as the previous one I couldn't put my bags anywhere safe to go pee (not in Dubai anymore) and the waiters were ignorant to me sat in the corner, rude when I went up to the hostess to ask to pay actually as well.
It tried to rain slightly but it lasted all of three drops. Thankfully!
Getting into the apartment block was like mastermind! We had a code to get through the electric door and then up a few grand old stairs, there were two very old fashioned oily elevators that took us to the 5th floor but would only fit two suitcases in and dad, I refused to enter so walked which was loooooong!
The elevator only took us so far, then we had to walk up the other two flights of stairs to floor 7. Trying to get into the door was another challenge there wasn't a clear key code box on the door to open it. Until we banged the door and the cleaner who spoke no English and could translate only through google let us in and showed us the code for the door. A very nice apartment but only a one bedroom so I'm on the sofa! Haha. The rooftop actually over looking the city was delightful! Newly renovated! Mum having a panic about the bathroom and no bedding and only one bed but not actually opening cupboards to look and then there was only one towel but two others were on the bed. Haha, standard initial panic!
We sat on the balcony for a while, dad gave us a show of his new merchandise from deribit off Annie, and then we headed out for a stroll and tried to decide on one of many restaurants to go into.
We stopped at one of course first one we sit in s*** service and didn't have our beer that we wanted so we headed down the road to another and well… we ended up staying there for about 4 hours or more from beer to wine, mum was starving so we had food and then we stumbled home, dad the party animal wanted to stay out and have more until we gave up on the pub hunt and went back to the apartment, struggling with the door we had to wait for help of a local getting into their building. Steps up the 7th floor, that was bloody hard after the amount of booze we had, we sat onto the balcony with a coffee from the machine for a while chatting, freeeezing and ready to retire to bed we headed in, set up on the sofa for me not finishing the night without my obligatory jump on the bed in between mam and dad for a cwtch and kiss goodnight.
The sofa was pretty comfortable to be fair! I will need to stretch in the morning though! Looking at the little electric piano on the side of the room, wishing I hadn't given it up and somewhat inspiring me to want to learn again! Haha maybe it's the booze.
Weather was lovey today with the odd cloud passing by let's hope it stays that way going forward!!
Lush to be reunited and have a great ole chit chat with mumsy and daddy! Looking forward to the week ahead and already feel like I've reset and out of my funk from yesterday!
