So seems as though this EU Covid Green Pass has pissed a lot of people off, I can't understand the news but if facial expressions and tone of voice is anything to go by, also I over heard a lot of tourists talking about it and some fretting over it this morning also. Then it occurred to me, there are hundreds of thousands of US citizens alone without other nationalities that aren't European travelling Europe and Italy in particular that's going to chop tourism down massively, they can't shut their museums, cafes, restaurants, parks to just EU vaccinated green pass holders…?

If this was true I will be so pissed that I cancelled the St. Peter Basilica church tour for today.

I went to the Spanish steps this morning to view and of course absolutely jam packed with tourists taking those Instagram worthy photos! I was still using my self guided tour on the ticket app I purchased which was interesting but included way too much information to relay or pin point because it was all so interesting. The tour took me through the fancy streets and the big squares and then I went over to the Vatican City, sussed out the entry situation and whether or not people were being turned away. I couldn't quite get to the bottom of it so decided I would try anyways when it was my entry time later.

I went for lunch to a cafe a few streets behind the city and when it was my time went on in and queued and much to my delight/annoyance they accepted my damn vaccine certificate. So no where in the news or on internet sources was it saying that we could get into these places without an EU green pass and just our vaccine certificate if not European citizen. Joke. Absolutely joke.

Anyways I was in the Vatican City, the smallest country in the world. I still can't quite understand why they can be called a country when they rely on Italy for pretty much everything they don't even have a hospital inside so nobody can actually be born a citizen of the country. Plus there are only 825 citizens of the place. Madness! The museum was interesting and had some wonderful pieces on display. Again mesmerising the detail put in by hand to everything. Michael Angelo was a mastermind, his creations and that of the Sistine Chapel was jaw dropping. It took him so long to paint and design! No photos… but I managed to sneak one of the main wall even if it was a little poor quality because he the security was heading my direction.

I did go outside to see the St.Peter Basilica church where the pope stands on his balcony like the queen. The front grounds were huge and they had a mall leading up to it like Buckingham palace.

I was shattered and knew I needed to walk home still and I was on the other side of the river at this point so a fair way to go.

By the time I got to the hotel my feet didn't want to walk they ached. I was shattered and sweaty and felt dirty and my Fitbit had told me I'd walked 17KM (23,000) steps… In Birkenstock's! And not one blister. These mongo shoes are great dad! Get ya self a pair - life changing!

I showered and felt better once i had. I went up to the roof for a glass of vino and was quite happy to sit there in quiet and watch Netflix and grab a bite to eat only because of covid they didn't serve food… honestly this virus. So I had to go round the corner and get a bite to eat instead. Couldn't wait to get into bed and shut eye. Was going to get up early in the morning to beat crowds at the Trevi fountain.

Oh and I did send laundry down to reception but much to my surprise I received a call from the receptionist he wanted to check whether or not I still wanted to send a bag of clothes to them because it was going to cost me €83!!! can you imagine if he hadn't told me? I would have been livid! I will wash my pants myself thanks!
