Slept slightly worse last night, maybe it was the total eclipse or not positioning myself in the sofa properly. OR I had too much to drink the night before which numbed the aching haha. Maybe it was the fact that the AC wasn't on much? But a coffee and shower sit on the balcony overlooking the city in our penthouse apartment before we hit the streets for the train to the North it was. Bloody boiling! 27 degrees on 9th April what is that all about! Before we left though we had to get the cases down the old fashioned lift with an internal and external door, dad got in with them but tried to open the door inside before he had finished moving and at the bottom so the lift got stuck, immediate panic stations from me, he went back up and down again before he came out… Good god that wasn't something I would want!
Luckily the bus to the train station was right outside our place and we could jump on straight away only it was absolutely packed and we couldn't work the payment machine so we didn't pay, thats usually the case in these European countries you either cant get to or talk to the driver because they are behind a screen or they're arse wipes with s*** attitude that dont speak their own language any good let alone english. But there was so many people on the bus that there was nothing they could do to chase us. 20 minutes later we were on the steps of the train station and headed to the coffee shop for breakfast and coffee before boarding. Some funny personalities about. A man fairly well dressed came into the coffee shop looked around with his recyclable bottle and cleaned up some of the tables, went out to the till and then back and followed a woman to the toilet waited outside for a split second then walked away and out to the station again. What the hell is that all about. Mum went in the toilet and got stuck, she text me and dad and said so, but the toilet had a code and she couldn't unlock it because she hadn't let it close and reset from the other person, (thats what she thought anyways - it worked for me) haha. 2/3 bad lucks today lets hope there isn't a third haha.
1st class carriage, of course, we ended up going backwards and didn't have window seats really. Plenty of room on the train though so we could move around but you know mum on a train she falls asleep instantly. 2.5 hours slow and steady up into bear country and the Transylvanian Alps, the scenery was epic and so dramatic! Dad wasn't amused that everyone had piles and piles and piles of wood for their stoves or their log burners. He just needs one big fat tree dumped on our drive preferably the length of it and he will be happy, can just chip away at that for years and years haha. All the houses were beige or red roofed and looked very ski resort mountain alps(y). Pine trees on every mountain as far as the eye could see. Lovely! Snow still on the edgy rugged mountains too! It felt colder on the train, maybe that was the fresh air coming in through the vents, whilst our ears popped.
Pleasant train rides go fast, we were soon onto a bus number 4 over to the old town and it stopped just 250M from out apartment, which was next to the main square, this city was so beautiful! In awe of the landscape, mum was sat on the bus and made a bus friend, I dont think she wanted to be friends back though haha. The place was so hot and sunny! we were boiling again! Cant believe this freak heatwave in april! Our instructions to the apartment were like mastermind/escape room. We did take a wrong turning down behind one door but it was a quick turn around to the next alley. Again stairs with no bloody lift, dad insists on carrying both and not letting me help even though I have had an operation to fix my back they still insist on saying 'you have a bad back'. Great apartment, newly renovated and HUGE back room for the bedroom for mum and dad, I have the make shift bed floating in the sky above the dining room lol, very comfy and cozy!
We didn't sit around long, we decided to hike up to the top of the mountain to the Hollywood sign BRASOV, original plan to walk up and get cable car down, we scrapped that by the time we got to the top and did a loop around in the mountains. First we walked through the main square, the little cobbled alleyways that were so picturesque filled with restaurants cafes and bars. This place was delightful!! The walk wasn't so bad, it was more of a zig zag gradual ascent which made it a lot easier! lots of rustling in the trees, you have to keep your eyes out for bears apparently, but I looked up and thought s*** what is that, thats a big bloody bird! It was only two deers hoping through the trees, they were so close to us and must be domesticated to a certain extent because they were so tame and close to us.
After we got back down to the bottom we headed to a pub and sat outside in the sun and had a well deserved beer with the slight smell of sweat passing us. Mam wanted to go back and get changed and showered so we weren't sitting around smelly and because we were so close to where we were going. Merlin was the bar of choice first when we went back out, it was in the sun still and we got chatting to the waitress that was dressed gothic like. She didn't have great english but what we made out was that she was very nervous, 22, worked in Italy last year and wants to go back working housekeeping in day and bar at night, she is adopted and has 2 older brother in their 50s whilst he mother died a few months ago she is trying to make her way in life. Mum and dad gave her a 10 pound tip which she didn't want to take, as she said that it was a lot of money for her. But I felt like she was very sincere and would look after it. It definitely is a struggle here and a very corrupt country, lots of Romanian gypsy's. We didn't know where to eat as per usual as there is too much choice and the given feel is 'i don't mind'. We agreed on a place in the square, it looked alright, we shared a pizza and was so full in the end! Before heading to bed miss sweet tooth had to be satisfied so we went and got an ice cream, it was very good I must say and didn't feel weird eating even though the temperature had dropped and it was a little chilly. Early ish evening and picking the car up tomorrow to drive around the state.
