Well officially we all left on the 19th, from very different climates. We were still cold when we landed but oh how I have missed the fresh air!!
It was 1:30AM, I was seat number 3A thinking that would be great to get off the plane and Wizz (pun not intended) off the plane to security as mum and dad were due to land about 45 minutes for me and I couldn’t see their plane on landing so assumed they had been in a while.
Not the case… they waited to move all three buses at the same time once everyone was off the plane. Typical!
Only I got to security and forgot which queue to go in, were we able to go in the EU passport line now? Had Bre it been finalised? Maybe I’ll go to all passports? (All this going through my head) I finally went with the all passports and spotted mum and dad in the line in front of me! What timing!!
We had a quick hug before going through to get bags and the taxi to the hotel.
We were able to sleep miraculously even though it was around 3am, and we all knew we would be walking miles on the first day aswell as hydrating on plenty of beers.
7 seasons apartment is very will situated and modern! I was on the chair that turned out into a bed (hospital bed) everytime I turned over which is very often throughout the night, I had to be careful not to fall out the side! Haha. More like a hospital bed.
First day out and it was very sunny and actually very warm with the temperature saying 22 degrees, boiling!! We did not need our jumpers and long coats that’s for sure!
We walked miles from the ‘pest’ side of the Danube river around the streets and Jewish quarters, staring at the orthodox Jews and their curly wurlys, top hats, thick tights and wigs on. Still can’t get my head around them, they’re extremely fascinating to watch!! Plenty of synagogues in this area!
We walked over to the ‘Buda’ side of the river, up to the top of the hill sweating buckets. We deserved a beer! On the square at the bottom of the hill near to the river watching the world go by the first few beers went down an absolute treat and the pickles were outstanding! Not sure what they do with their vinegar but delicious!
We had to keep going otherwise we would have sat there all day and got drunk.
We went up the Funicular to the top of the hill again to the Castle and other big buildings that looked great from the outside and I’m sure they did on the inside too but we have done our fair share of churches in the past so no need to go inside! Mum wanted an ice cream and then Ross FaceTimed so we stood and chatted to him for a little while, mum devoured the ice cream and sort of went into a trans eating it haha!
There were under cover security men stood dotted on the road I had noticed only for three people to come out of the ice cream shop in office west and walk down the road with them surrounding him, “keeping it casual” you would say. Someone in politics I imagine.
Hospital in the rock museum was next, rather interesting the cave system that was built as a hospital and nuclear bomb shelter if Russia went through with their threats in WW2. It was very interesting! Afterwards it was time to walk back to the hotel and we were shattered so a quick shower and change because we were stinky and then out for dinner, early dinner didn’t go as planned but never the less we got there! Mum ate MEAT!! Was gobsmacked. The area we were in was very lovely!
Great first day, definitely packed the wrong clothes if the weather stays like this!
