Days 568-569, 1-2 Jan '16, Rest Days in Qrendi/Mdina by Night... Every so often we do nothing. Some places more so, some less. But sooner or later we decide enough's enough and it's feets up for the day with Kindles, iPads, photos and pre-search. So we spent a couple of days doing that... and by the evening of the second day it was time to venture forth from the Hardie-Hobbit Hole. We heard that Mdina, the old capital city of Malta (now population 300!) would be even more beautiful at night - and so it was. We visited our fave pastizzi joint for a couple of pea pastizzis and walked into Mdina marvelling at the golden lights. We enjoyed the light strewn outlook from the bastion and even visited the Mdina Cathedral... usually €5 each (which is why we gave it a miss the other day). Evening service was due to get underway so we trundled in with the faithful (and the other economical tourists). They had a stunning crib/nativity display made by craftsmen from Naples - really beautiful. We took a turn around the town and then it was back to the car and back to the hobbit hole. Tomorrow? The lovely folks at the hotel we stayed at for Christmas Day liked us so much they asked us back for another stay... this time in their best suite. The things we do...
