so since I last wrote, which wasn't really that long ago, much has happened. I've introduced myself to well over 5000 people, I've been to 2 opening cermonies, where flags have been raised. Also destroyed a beatles song (not on my own, i'd like to add), met various government officials from Changsha, made flags, sang songs, watched a fashion parade, and practised Kung Fu. I have countlessly been pointed and stared at, and will say hello to over 300 students in one day, just walking past them.

So from the beginning - we walked the red carpet at the boarding school, following the grade 1 students under 4 archways (health,wisdon,happiness and something else), introducing ourselves to over 2500 students and teachers as we went. We were to act like stars, posing for photos and waving ALOT!! We were then presented with a red neckercheif, which has a name which had failed me now, but it implies that as guests we have been accepted into their community.

we left the boarding school, and went to the east campus school, which is the newest school in the cluster. Here we did icebreakers, we broke the ice by singing/wrecking the beatles song "get by with a little help from my friends" (with the other english teachers)

"mingle" or huggy bear was to follow, allowing us to make a mockery of ourselves even more. when the number is shouted u must find that many people and form a group. you must learn their names and if you fail at either of these things, u must complete a performance of some kind. "head, shoulders, knees and toes" and favourite of mine lol.

In the groups we formed last, we created flags with a slogan. my groups was a cow, cause its that year, and its wearing a kilt with a sign saying "happy birthday" to China, due to it celebrating its 60th birthday later in the year. Can't draw so u'l be pleased to know that I didn't lol.

Played other games 2, like the Chinese version of "Chinese whispers" which is like miming but in a line with an action and an emotion. actually rather difficult and my team failed miserablly at that lol, we still got a prize tho :D

Others had to sing songs, or tell stories, poor Soren had to perform a fashion parade in his group. I got to learn Kung Fu, or a really lame attempt at it lol. It was all fun and just a big joke.

We went back to the East Campus for the grand offical opening of the school today, it is just newly built, so all the government officals were there - however the six of us where the main attraction. At this ceremony they had dancers and singers and was a proper show. The sun has come out now, and was really hot, so we didn't stay long, and we took shade in our car. Our driver came shortly to take us to one of the Kindergartens that we will be teaching at. How posh does that sound - our driver lol

At the Kindergarten we sang "head, shoulders, knees and toes" would have helped if everyone was singing it to the same tune, they no a different version in China, oh well the kids seemed to be amused all the same. Turns out i'm not teaching at that kindergarten and i'l be at another one, sure the kids will still think we're weird at that one 2 lol.

Got to sit in on a grade 5 class getting taught english, was a real eye opener,and now have NO idea what I plan to teach my grade 2 class since they are not as advanced as what I thought they might be :s sure i'l survive somehow. Quite looking forward to teaching tho, this week has been long - planning and sitting in the office. Will still get my naps tho.

I've learnt to wave like royality, and smile for the cameras like the famous, and nap like a 3 year old, how will I ever cope back in the real world lol.
