been a while since I updated, I'l try keep it brief. Wed peer teaching went really good, some real positive feedback from the observer, Ian. Need to slow down, talk to fast, and I need to adapt a "teacher voice" as my accent is to hard to understand, this coming from an Irishman. lol.
Wednesday night, was the night everyone was waiting for, placement time. I've been placed in the south in town called "changsha" there are 8 of us in total going to that city, 6 of us at the one school. An International Experimental Boarding School, in the complex there are 2 primary schools and a kindergarten. Don't no exactly which age group I have been given but i find out when i get there. The others going to the same town are nice, haven't really spoken to them all yet tho. Slightly gutted there are so many of us going to the same place, was expecting more rural, but sure i'l make the most of the experience.
Loads of people went out drinking on the wed night to celebrate, I instead went to the hospital. Serious pains in the stomach, been given more medication to try help, don't panic tho, its just because of the complete change in diet, my stomach is had enough.
Thursday, made such an effort to get up for my last peer teaching, it was for 16/17 year olds, and i was going through work, so we were gonna write a CV then do mock interviews. Due to pain, missed first two classes. Wasn't the only one tho, missed dramas last night.Someone got so drunk and angry about their placement that the were shouting abuse at the people who organise it. There was a lot of heaving drinking. (Abusive guy got kicked of the course) and a lot more got warnings for attendence, these warnings go with you to the school. I didn't get one tho, cause I'm geniunely sick.
Cat's birthday on Thur, so we went to The Orange Tree, the little gem from our disasterous day. then to the manchester bar, for drinks, no abuse given tho, and everyone made it to class on the Fri.
Signing of the contracts of Fri, a quick trip to H&M to try find outfit for formal dinner. Not really that formal, but cheap - 25 yuan (£2.50) for a long top. Everyone made such an effort for the graduation dinner, especially the blokes, they were all looking daper in their suits. Got a certificate for passing the theory part of the course, get full certificate once i've completed so many classroom hours. Then of to bar blu for free drinks, did not take full advantage of that, stomach sore :( probably shouldn't have drank so much orange juice though :S
Loads of people leaving at 5 in the morning, it is now 4.50 here, and some people have only just started packing. Helen is no where to be seen, at least she is half packed tho. I'm checking out of UIBE at midday, 15hour train there which leaves at 15:45, oh the joys lol.
Due to arriving in new place, prob won't have internet access for the first while but i'l try update you all when I can
