So Queenstown here I am. So i'v been bungy jumping here. Did it with a guy I met from Denmark and meet a few others along the way. It was the scariest thing I have ever done, the Nevis Highwire is a 134m jump . . . crazy!!!Getting strapped up by a staff member who had not been on the job long at all and seeing him have to restrap the previous jumper co he did it wrong didnt inspire confidence at all. He was also explaining the safety procedures etc and that was very hjard to understand considering he was french or something . . . very hard accent to decifer.
So standing on that little metal plate sticking out of the cart was the most scariest moment of my life. I knew I was attached but still could not comprehend whay the hell I was doing this. All my pre mental training about breathing slowly and not looking down etc. went straight out the window . . . He asked if I was ready and I said "ahhhhh i dunno man' but then he counted down from 5 so I just had to jump. I cannot begin to describe the feeling of seeing the river below coming towards you and rain in ur face. The closest thing I can say it was like was that I felt weightless, almost as if i wasnt moving either. It was fantastic, once i bounced back up and down a couple of times i realeased my feet and sat there huing by my waist and just could not stop laughing. I was so puimped, I highly recommend this bungy as it is the highest in NZ and the 3rd in the world!!!!
Next was paragliding from the top of thr Queenstown Gondola, that was over pretty quick and in comparison not as great as the bungy. But I still give it credit, it was a great ride, also a weird sensation when u run off the mountain then all of a sudden just take of the earth and glide through the sky. I only realised how fats we were going until we go close to the ground, the landing was quite smooth and overall a great ride.
I also went for a walk around the Queenstown gardens, seeing the remarkables covered in snow was great, I also went down the luge at the top of the gondola it was very overrated but still worth a shot. That sunday night of the 21t I met some americans in my hostel and we played 'beer pong', it was hilarious. We just kept playing it for hours. Naturally I got worse as the game went on but in the beginning i wasnt too bad! That next day I promised to myself that id go for a walk up Queenstown hill, so i did even though a little dehydrated. It was a steep climb but worth it in the end!
Then Im off to my Milford track hike on Tuesday!
