We've been in Airlie Beach for 3 days, staying at Adventure Whitsunday camp site, which is actually in Cannonvale the next suburb about 7km outside of Airlie, it's a much bigger area than we expected, lots of housing and plenty of shops, bars and restaurants.
The camp site is bar far the best we have stayed in, the facilities are brilliant and they have a swimming pool with slides, a jumping pillow, which adults aren't allowed on!!! and an 18 hold mini golf course, but I won't talk about that as Steph, somehow, managed to beat me!
Airlie itself is quite small, only a couple of streets with lots of bars and restaurants offering cheap food and beer for the thousands of backpackers that seem to line the streets. There's a couple of ports, with some fantastic boats offering lots of tours out to the Whitsunday Islands. This evening we ate dinner in the Hogs Breath Cafe, as one of my friends worked there a few years back and went to Beaches bar to watch State of Origin 2 (2nd in the 3 game series between New South Wales and Queensland) it was a much better game than the one we went to in Sydney and NSW managed to win to level the series, I got quite a few dodgy looks from the Maroons supporters when I cheered the NSW tries, hoping to be in Brisbane for the final game And Will Try To Get Tickets.
The rest of the time we have spent relaxing in the camp site, enjoying the sun. We leave for our Whitsunday cruise tomorrow and we've got a couple of nights booked in a hotel for Steph's birthday.
