Martin & Sarah's Big Adventure
I am writing this postcard from a very cold wet and windy Wellington (yes, we were expecting to escape all that cold weather, but it has caught up with us now! - I sympathise with you all).
We have been in Wellington (the capital of New Zealand) for the last few days, it is a really beautiful city, surrounded by the sea and mountains. The only problem is that the wind is so strong it literally pushes you along the pavement, well I supose that's why they call it windy wellington. The other great thing about this place is they have the hugest and best museum ever, and guess what its actually free!! They also have a parliament building in the shape of a beehive, which has to be the ugliest building i have ever seen.
This photo with this postcard was taken from the Botanic gardens in Wellington, which you have to get on an old fashioned tram to get to. It was really great to escape the city for a couple of hours, the sun even came out! Whilst we were here we also saw a Maori wedding in the gardens, it was very interesting to watch, especially the dancing and singing.
At 1.30am we are heading off on a ferry to the South Island of New Zealand, i will send a card from there in a few days.
