Day 70: Yeppoon
We are in the final stages of our trip now, with yesterday being exactly 1 month to the date till we are due home. Our conversations are a combination of both the destinations still to experience but also our plans upon our return.
Today we had a relatively easy day. After pancakes for breakfast we took a drive to Rosslyn for walk to Double Head. Double Head is an ancient volcanic plug that was formed over 70 million years ago. Years of weathering and changes in the Earth have left behind fantastic geological formations such as Fan Rock. Double Head is also a great lookout for views of the Keppel Islands.
After the 700m return walk we visited the fishermans co-op to buy some seafood for dinner. Creamy garlic prawns was tonight's menu.
Next we briefly returned to the van to put the seafood in the fridge seems our waeco has malfunctioned and we haven't had a chance yet to get a replacement part, before venturing into the township of Yeppoon for a look around and some supplies.
Our afternoon was spent on the waterslide, with Darren and I joining in the fun today, and lounging around either reading or watching a movie. Yep, it's a hard life!
The weather has been extremely kind to us and I pray it continues. We've noticed the nights getting a little cooler as we travel south, but the days are still lovely and warm with temps in the high 20's.
Tomorrow we have a bit of a long drive ahead of us. We are going to Cania Gorge for a couple of days.
