Day 80: Forest Glen to Brisbane
Only 18 days left of our 'trip of a life time'. It is hard to believe we are in Brisbane already, the last couple of months have flown by.
As I mentioned, we are currently in Brisbane for the sole purpose of catching up with our good friend Christian. We are meeting up with him tomorrow which gave us this afternoon to explore.
Top of the list of things to do was to fill the gas bottle, so after doing that we ventured to the local Westfield at Chermside which is huge.
We visited our usual shops, being the book shop and surf shop. The book shop was to look for a book for Brandon that we have been looking for since we were in Adelaide. He bought the first in the series when we were in Adelaide and we've been looking for the follow up ever since. Darren and I couldn't resist buying more books for ourselves also.
The surf shop was to buy Brandon a new pair of thongs as he broke his a couple of days ago.
Whilst we were in the book shop Darren got a call from work so I made the most of his inattention whilst in the surf shop and bought not only Brandon's thongs but also some new clothes for Micaela and I.
Shopping completed we had a little time to kill before the movie started. Before shopping we bought tickets to watch Madagascar 3. Next to the cinemas is a time zone, Darren couldn't resist returning to his youth so we bought some credit and went wild in Timezone.
Having never done anything like this as a family before, it was a new experience that we all thoroughly enjoyed. Micaela was a little slow to warm to it, but the boys jumped in with gusto. Their favourite was a pirate game that two people could play together, this is the game that initially got Darren's attention.
Madagascar 3, for anyone that hasn't seen it, is a bit slower starting compared to the others. Darren fell asleep during the pre-show ads. I woke him for the start of the movie but he fell asleep again. I noticed him sleeping when I heard the low hum of his snoring. I let him go until his snoring started to get a little louder. I woke him before we both got embarrassed, we had a good chuckle about it.
The kids thought the movie was awesome, and sang 'Afro circus' for the rest of the night.
We are staying at Big4 Brisbane Northside Caravan Village which is a nice park, although basic. It is centrally located and we found it without a single u-turn, which is always a bonus. It's more of a transit park. The managers told us that school holiday periods don't have much influence on their business, which is different to Kiama where we are heavily influenced by the seasons and holidays.
