Day 53: Millaa Millaa to Port Douglas
Nothing worse than trying to keep a caravan clean when it's raining outside, wet grass gets trampled through at a constant rate.
We did our first pack up in the rain this morning. It wasn't pouring but was constant & misty rain. Pack up wasn't too bad except for the dirty floor in the van.
By the time we reached Atherton the rain had stopped and it felt quite muggy. We visited the Crystal caves at Atherton which was quite the experience. We bought the kids a geode each to crack and they bought themselves some crystals.
Proceeding the caves we continued onto Port Douglas where we checked into the Big4 park. The park is a pretty big one and the amenities block we are using looks to be quite new.
After setting up Darren, Ethan, Brandon and I had a game of frisbee before visiting Mossman Gorge.
The gorge is strictly operated with no cars permitted at the viewing area. All cars have to be parked at the visitors centre and visitors are required to purchase tickets to catch a shuttle bus up to the gorge.
It started to rain again at the rainforest so we did a lovely walk in the rain which wasn't uncomfortable.
On the way back to the van we had dinner in Port Douglas before returning for showers. The rain has stopped so it is muggy again.
Tomorrow we are travelling to Cape Tribulation for a unique tour of the Daintree.
