Days 85 and 86: Friends and Family
What a great weekend we have had catching up with friends and family that we haven't seen for ages.
Yesterday, being Saturday, we had the pleasure of being to invited to Brett and Michelle's for lunch (which then also turned into dinner).
Brett and Darren became friends when Brett's family camped at East Beach for Christmas holidays. We tracked Brett down about 15 years ago and we have remained in contact since. Obviously due to distance we don't get to see each other much, the last time being 2 years ago when the Campbell family came back to East Beach to celebrate the 75th anniversary.
Brett and Michelle have got 2 boys, Aiden and Lachlan, so our kids loved spending time with other kids again.
We had a great BBQ lunch and an even better time catching up on events from the past 2 years. Before we knew it, it was 6pm so we ordered pizza for dinner.
Thanks again Brett and Michelle for a great day, we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and loved spending time with you both and the boys.
Today we did more catching up, this time with family. Darren's cousins Neil and Tegan live on the Gold Coast. We haven't seen Tegan for a few years as she has been living in Albania with her husband Erion and has only recently returned back to Oz. We've been looking forward to not only seeing Tegan again but also meeting her husband.
Neil and his wife Krystle had a baby in July so we have been super excited to see them again and to meet their new son Bryce.
Aswell as them, Darren's Uncle Tom and Aunty Kerry made the effort to be here whilst we were here so we could see them also. As an added bonus Darren's sister Leanne with her Husband Jamie and their kids Jess and Jack are here on holidays so we made it one big family reunion.
After a last minute change in location, everyone came to the caravan park we are staying at and had a BBQ lunch. We had so much fun and loved seeing family again.
The kids were initially a little overwhelmed as they know of these family members but due to the infrequency in which they see them, they get a little shy at first. They relaxed once their own cousins turned up though.
A big thank you to everyone for making the effort to catch up today, we greatly appreciate it and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with you all.
Weekends like this remind me how blessed we are to be surrounded by such wonderful people, both family and friends.
Tomorrow we have another big day planned at SeaWorld before going to Tegan and Erion's for dinner. Thanks for the invite guys, we are really looking forward to it.
