Days 81&82: Brisbane to Gold Coast
Mother Nature is being so very kind to us on this trip, and I hope I don't jinx us by saying so. We have had very little rain for the past 82 days with only a little falling whilst we were in Adelaide, we got drenched in the Daintree and we broke the drought for them in Brisbane. But even then it only rained in the evening.
As planned, we spent Tuesday catching up with Christian and met his beautiful little girl Elka. Christian and Elka came over to our van and we spent the afternoon chatting whilst entertaining kids. It was great to see you Christian, hope we get to see you again on your way through our area at Christmas.
Yesterday we travelled to the Gold Coast. After pouring rain the previous night, we woke to the most glorious sunny day. We didn't unpack much so it didn't take us long to pack up, we were checked into Broadwater Tourist Park at Southport by 10.30am, and that's even after the navman took us on a scenic route to a dead end. Darren had to turn the van around in the drive way of an apartment block. Yep, he's good. Can't say the same about the navman!
The park we are staying at is a council owned park situated right on Broadwater across from SeaWorld. We tried to get into the Big4 park but they could only accommodate us for 1/2 the time we wanted. This park is really nice though. They have an average occupancy rate that anybody in the industry would be envious of. On arrival the receptionist mentioned we were arriving just before the rush and yet the park is already busy. School holidays start this weekend so we will see how much busier it gets.
Last night we enjoyed a night of entertainment at the Australian Outback Spectacular which was fantastic. The show was enjoyed by the whole family with Micaela sitting on the edge of her seat for the entire length of the show in awe of the horses.
The kids and I treated ourselves to a slushy. Mine was alcoholic! Which came in a glass that flashes lights and bonus, we got to keep the glass. It's the small things that make it fun!
Today we are making the most of this gorgeous weather and going to Wet n Wild. It is meant to be about 28 degrees today.
