Day 57: Cairns Markets
Umm, how to make today sound exciting where to the casual observer it really wasn't but to us it was another fabulous day on our holiday.
Once again we made no effort to rush after we awoke this morning. Darren and I spent part of last night trying to decide what options we had for todays activities, not really coming to any conclusions. During breakfast we decided to simply go to the touristy part of Cairns and have a look around.
Upon arrival we found the markets to be on, so we strolled through buying a couple of little things. Micaela got a few braids in her hair and the boys got glitter tattoos.
The markets are situated right next to the man made lagoon, so after looking through the stalls we went for a swim. The water was surprisingly cool, but refreshing.
After our swim, then lunch, then a bit more shopping, we returned to the park for more swimming.
And that was pretty much our day. It concluded with the kids and I once again watching the open air movie put on at the park. Tonight's movie was 'Tangled', Darren stayed at the van hoping to watch the Hawthorn - Sydney Swans match but it wasn't aired on free to air in Queensland, so he just enjoyed an hour and a half to himself.
Tomorrow we are excitingly anticipating the arrival of my sister, my mum and my beautiful niece Lydia who are flying up to have a few days holiday with us.

Tom Karanda bird sanctuary is worth a look. And if you see the shop selling "lime cello" cocktail ingredients it is good stuff. We bought a pack home on the plane. They aslo have mandarin and mango flavours.Tom.
