Today, we bombed around a bit to historic sites in the morning. A fish merchants house and large garden from the 1930s. We then went to the large federal site documenting the 500 years of fisheries on Newfoundland. It was mostly cod and a little seal.
We came back to the apartment for lunch, then went out again for the afternoon. We started by going to dungeon provincial park. It had two sea arches that lead to a tiny cove and then in the harbour near by a bunch of sea stacks. It was all very beutiful.
We also stopped briefly at the lighthouse and the statue of John Cabot's alleged land site. Those were alright.
We then chased an iceberg (see the photo). It was kind of small once we found it. But it was good to see one so we are not worried about seeing one... now hopefully we will just see a bigger one up north.
We then went to Elliston where after a short hike you can watch puffins nesting on a small island only 10-20m off shore. We sat for a good long while and watched the puffins come and go.
We are now back at the apartment after cooking supper. We are washing clothes and tidying everything up for our long drive tomorrow to St Anthony.
I'm looking forward to getting back to the west coast.... It should be fun and the weather has been really good so far so lets hope it keeps up. I've been in shorts mainly and we have only had fog coming and going for an hour here and there.
