Hey everyone
Today we went to New Zealand!
We woke up in the middle of the night at 3am, when we could still hear the drunks singing outside our window. It was no surprise that we hadn't got as much sleep as we wanted, but we grabbed our packed bags, had a bite to eat, left the hostel and got a taxi to the airport. Cairns airport is pretty small, but there was still a queue for the painfully early 5:30am flight to Brisbane.
It didn't take long to check in or go through security, and we didn't have to wait too long before boarding our plane to Brisbane. We were given breakfast on the flight, and though as much as we love free food, it meant less time for sleep. A couple of hours later we arrived in Brisbane, where we had a couple of hours to spare before our next flight to Auckland. The wait quickly went by, as we got the train to the international terminal and went through security again. Our second flight was a few hours long, and we were 'treated' to lunch.
We arrived in Auckland, New Zealand, at about 2pm local time, and though we weren't jet lagged (we'd only gone through two time zones) we were very, very tired. The first thing we noticed in New Zealand was that it was cold. We hadn't been cold in a long, long time. We checked into our hostel and were glad that it was very quiet. We had a bite to eat and were in bed early. It was very strange falling asleep and not hearing loud drunks outside, or in a room where the curtains actually shut out all the light. Strange in a very nice way. Xxx
