Hey everyone

Today we went to Westport!

We left Nelson early and headed to Richmond to get picnic supplies. We then went to Nelson Lakes National Park and had our lunch by the stuning lake Rotoiti - it is surrounded by snow capped mountains and native New Zealand beech forest. We watched as a few of the more adventurous kiwi passengers jumped of the jetty into the freezing waters of the lake. We were not in the least bit tempted to jump into the lake, as we were cold enough in our coats and gloves. We watched people climb out of the lake blue and told us that it was so cold they couldn't breathe.

We then arrived in Westport in the late afternoon and our hostel had a lovely homely feel to it, complete with log fire. We made a cup of tea and everyone settled down in the living room and watched a film, Die Hard, (Christina's choice) and after a short pause to make dinner we then watched Shrek. We reluctantly left the warm room for our freezing cold dorm room and went to bed, tired from the long day of travelling (how many times do we write that!). Xxx
