This last weekend, I celebrated my birthday in Lima with a few friends. We went to the national symphonic orchestra, which, to my surprise, was not a great orchestra. For such a big city, I expected something a little more professional. They kept missing their attacks (the first note after a long pause) and their starts to every peice were rough. I could compare their performance to my high school marching band, and you would all have an idea of the quality of their performace. So, not such a good performance, but it was still nice to see friends and see a little culture in my life. In April, I plan to go with some friends to see Swan Lake in Lima, which should be a much better performance.
After the concert, we went out for sushi, and a drink or two, then relaxed in the hostal. All in all, a very relaxed birthday celebration, and I feel no different at 25 years old than 24. Except now maybe people will take me seriously :)
Last month, I made a few life-style changing choices. In May, I am going to run a half-marathon, which I am training for now. In total, it will be 13 miles!! Yikes! For those who are not runners, like me, just remember; if anyone tries to tell you that running gets easier after the first week, dont believe them. Its not easier! They are lying. This is my third week of running, and its still a painful process. Sometimes I wonder if I am getting worse at running! Hopefully, in a month and a half, I can get my current number of 4 miles at once to 13 miles. Its such a daunting number!!
I also decided, in September, I am going to take the GRE. Its just a thought, and since the test will be at a 50% discount for the new test format, I figured, why not take it? Thoughts?
Hope everyone is well!
Happy travels,
Teigan
