First thing in the morning we went to a town called Yanque and watched some children doing a traditional love dance. There were also locals holding eagles and falcons and you could pay to have your photo taken with them.
Afterwards we went to the top of the canyon. It is 4910m high and possibly the deepest canyon in the world. At the top of the canyon we went to see the condor birds. Condors are about 1.2m tall and has a 3m wing span. They can live for around 70 years. After waiting 35 minutes out of our 40 minute time limit we luckily eventually saw a condor fly across the canyon. We stopped off at a viewpoint and tried the local cactus fruit which looks like kiwi inside and is sour. We also stopped off at a town called Lari to visit a church built in 1876. For lunch we stopped at another all you can eat restaurant. We both felt quite sick after. On our way back to Arequipa we passed the highest point again like yesterday but this time it snowing and the ground was covered!
Once we arrived back in the main Arequipa city Eddy got a strawberry sorbet and we walked back to the hostel to shower and kill some time before our overnight bus to Puno. We got to the bus station by 9:30pm as the bus was originally meant to leave at 10pm but it got cancelled so we had to sit in the bus terminal and wait for the next bus an hour later.
