Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all ok. I am sure you will all be pleased to hear that we have had to get a JOB! Argh!!!

We are currently working in a kiwi orchard in a small town in the Bay of Plenty on the north island. We have been working for just over a week now. It is 10 hours a day (7.30 -6.00), 7 days a week, for about 3.50 an hour. We are just fruit thinning and pruning which to us means take off a few kiwis and start lopping off random branches. Their kiwi output will be a lot less this year with us working for them.

Sounds like hard work but it has been quite a doddle so far as about from our first 4 days were we worked solidility for 10 hours every day, since then we have been rained off every other day and have only maanged 28 hours this week. Which is good as we hate working but bad as saving no money.

We are still sleeping in Bob but our contractor has a house that the workers live on so we are just parked in the garden and use all the facilities which is cool and he is only charging us 20 quid a week which is good. We are currently sharing with another English girl, a German lad and 3 Czech lads plus a few Thai people. (It is a very big house). Matt is vey happy about the situation as they have Sky TV and can finally watch Spurs on TV he is being mad enough to get up at 4.30 to watch the game before going to work. Crazy!!

We are going to be working for about 6weeks so our updates will be a bit boring for a while, the only thing we are doing is going to the Big Day Out in Auckland on 19th Jan which is a one day music festival and the line up is fantastic, Kasabian, Killers, Muse, Streets, Jet plus loads more so we cant wait for that, it was our little xmas treat.
