Hi everyone,
New diary entry only about 2 weeks behind.
Saying goodbye to the west coasst we headed to Wanaka for a quick look round before making our way to Queenstown. Didnt really know what to expect of Queenstown but it was really impressive set right by a lake and surrounded by huge mountain ranges.
As it is known as the adventure capital of New Zealand, we thought we had better do something stupid well Matt had), so we went to the Kawarau bridge bungy site, the first commercial bungy in the world, well when we say we went,we went 3 times and the last time for over an hour before Matt worked up the balls to do it. Standing on the edge it seemed like hours before they shouted 1,2,3 and bungy, but the experience was amazing and the water was touched. Louise was more scared watching from the sidelines. Gutted at the end though, took so long to decide the sausage sizzle BBQ had packed up and had to settle for a cheese sandwiche. Would now love to do another.
Louise's adrenaline packed trip ( i dont think) involved a trip up the gondola, which was very steep up tp Bobs Peak but gave great views of Queenstown and the surrounding area. Plus up there we got to do the Luge, it was great fun. It is like a sledge with controls and you go down a windy track really fast, had a great laugh doing that.
Had a night out in Queenstown as a very lively town with loads of bars, went to a Karaoke bar where they managed to persuade someone to do naked karaoke very entertaining, even bought us a drink with his winnings, nice one (did make Lou feel old though as went to same uni but she had left before he even started, gutted!!!). Next morning got a shock with a big bang on the door by some old council bloke telling us we couldnt camp there (no signs) and had to move. Today of all days not feeling the best to be getting up (didnt have to move as was now free parking but did have to wake up) not amused, felt awful.
Apart from just wandering around the town and lying by the lake we also visited Arrowtown for the morning an old town nearby with traditional buildings etc, was very pretty and had an old fashioned sweet shop so bought lots of boiled sweets and fudge was great felt like kids again.
On the whole really enjoyed our time in Queenstown and next Milford Sounds.
Take care
Tatey and Lou xxx
