Hi everyone,
Due to our serious lack of money we drove straight up from Christchurch back to near the Abel Tasman NP to find some work. Argh!!! Hate the W word. Managed to find work to start the next day, Lou in a applepackhouse and Matt apple picking. Spent our last day of freedom on Kaiteriteri beach which is just so beautiful.
Started work at 7.30 and by 7.40 lou was already bored of the apple packing really checking apples and putting them on a tray is not exciting. But by 10.30 it was a disaster zone, apples everywhere, they had turned up the machine. Could not cope. Matts day had not been much better apple picking is by all accounts very hard. The bins are massive that you have to fill and on the first day Matt managed 2, to earn a grand total of 60 dollars (about 20 quid). Luckily within 2 days Matt was in the packhouse so we could work together and actually earn some money.
We spent 3 weeks working and have never been so glad to finish did meet some really nice people though, from here we are catching the ferry up to Auckland.
Until next time
Take care
Tatey and Lou xxx
