Today we headed towards the mountains, stopping at the beach to take a very nice walk around the Lake ( not sure of the name) and visiting a seal colony and pancake rock formations. The sea was sooo choppy i don't know how the seals survive there!! Then we stopped in Westport to grab some essentials for our fancy dress party that night, all the boys were told they had to go in drag and all the girls were given 2 black bin liners each and told to come up with whatever we could! We decided to go as a herd of cows, so we bought some cat collars to wear bells round our necks- pink washing up gloves for our udders and marshmallows and white paper for out patches! After helping the guys buy various hideous tops and lipsticks we arrived at the Pua Pub (our hostal) in Lake Mahinapua- it was pouring with rain for a change so we quickly got to our porter cabin tin room and began work on our costumes. If i do say so myself our group looked brilliant!! We kept losing our marshmallows and the sack boobtube dresses felt like they were melting when we danced near the fire- but it was so much fun!! I'm not sure the photo's do justice to our costumes. The guys looked scary!! Fish nets, thongs, bras , dodgey makeup and handbags mincing round the pub and dancing with each other! such a good night! The 6 of us girls- or cows actually ended up winning the fancy dress competition- a free Canyon Swing in Queenstown!!! We were so chuffed and gave the prize to Zella who was the genius behind the idea and was really looking fwd to doing the canyon swing anyway- so i can't wait to watch her do it!! Today we headed off to Frans Josef- the boys all still have dodgey remains of their eye makeup ( think they still like wearing it!!) and we all woke up still wearing our cow bells!! Tomorrow we're planning on climbing the glacier which is going to be sooooo cold and wet but it sounds amazing so i really can't wait! 2 friends are leaving tonight- but the town is literally one street- so think we will be sticking to the hostal bar- which has a game of bingo on tonight- i'm sure that will be entertaining!!
