As Suzanne was in town for business, and after the brilliant time we had the last time, we planned a road trip to York to spend some quality time with our bestie. We met up after work and set off on the four hour journey. Once again we had a good session of heart to hearts, big hearty laughs and soul warming tunes. A visit from our soul sista is just what the doctor ordered. We arrived in York and checked into our cute apartment in the centre of town, overlooking York Minster cathedral. The owners were so sweet and even set out some olives, cheese and crackers for us to snack on. We freshened up a bit and hit the streets to find a suitable watering hole. Our first stop was House of Trembling Madness, a cozy and quirky pub above a bottle store. We started off with an alpine beer and quickly settled into the relaxed mood of the place. Before moving onto the next bar we got distracted by the numerous bottles lining the walls and somehow we ended up buying Absinthe. Giggling like schoolgirls, we entered Evil Eye for a few ill advised cocktails. Oh boy, things were going to get messy. A few sips of the green fairy sent us spirialling out of control until we finally stumbled home where the night ended with a disgusting kebab and the obligatory hugging of the porcelain throne. The next morning, feeling slightly worse for wear we dissected the previous evening's antics with horror and shame. It was a rather slow start to the day but a visit to a castle or two would do us the world of good. We drove to Castle Howard and walked around the extensive grounds in search of photo opportunities. Suzanne had us in stitches as per usual, with her keen sense for weather reporting and her fondness for ABBA. It was a reminder of what an amazing friend and person she is. It was such a lovely day and driving through the Yorkshire countryside was beautiful. We had a subdued and chilled evening and it wasn't long before we called it a night, favouring a comfy bed to another pub crawl. The next morning we walked around York City, visiting the sights and enjoying our last day together before our train back to London. Looking forward to the next road trip.
