New Years Day
A good sleep-in was enjoyed by many today, but I think out to breakfast by 10am is very good.
Boots, scarf, gloves and beanie on and my camera at the ready, Kelly, Will and I headed out for a morning of hiking up the beautiful Arthurs Seat. We began up the hill taking some lovely photographs over Edinburgh before the path headed down. This wasn't right! And then we saw ... We'd walked around the rocky mound next to Arthurs Seat. So up and up we went, up the real Arthurs Seat. It was step, rocky and muddy. I love my boots, I love my boots!
Clammering over and between rocks on the last steep incline we made it to the top of Arthurs Seat in 20min. The view was amazing despite the almost subzero temperature. A few photos later we headed down the other way - a more direct and easier path although much muddier and less rocky. I love my boots :)
We made our way back into the centre of Edinburgh for a tour of Mary King's Close. There is a huge number of roads and buildings that have ben build over, under The Royal Mile. It was truly amazing; they told us all about the history, plagues and random facts.
Another full day with lots of fun had, beautiful photographs taken and laughs enjoyed.
