Horseriding in Wales weekend
13th to 14th March, 2004
Our first stop in Wales was the Black Mountains where we dropped half of our bus off to do the horse ridding. The rest of us were taken to a small town called Hay-on-Wye which is renowned for having the most and one of the largest second hand book stores in Britain. Absolutely gorgeous place, but unfortunately not enough time there - we had lunch in a pub and ran out of time.
Horseriding - YAY. We had to get suited up (ie vest and helmet) and were shown all the necessary things before being given our horses - little boring, but eh *shrug*. This next bit comes from Kelly's email and some the next bit up perfectly "Tam, being the experienced rider she is, asked for the biggest horse there was, his name was Sinbad and (for those of you who have met Tam) you could just see the top of her head from the lowest part of the horses back. It was quite a sight to see" hehehe, yep he was about 16hands or so, big solid horse, bit stubborn, but quite responsive when we got to know each other. Could let them leave him behind, not give me the smallest, dopeyest horse, just coz I'm little, now could I?? *chuckle*
Kelly had a nice horse called Thomas, he was a little slow and liked the edges. We went for a nice ride, walking and trotting. Oh, Sinbad had a beautiful step on him too, a smooth almost rocking horse trot, ahhh . . . Sorry for those who've no idea what I'm talking about. The scenary was lovely, and I had a ball - can you tell?? :)
Saturday night after a quick spa, half the tour headed into Cardiff. We went to a bar with 2 new friends of ours, Sophie (Sunshine, Melbourne) and Kim (Boston, USA). Only one drink for us, we were exhausted.
Sunday was spent in Cardiff for 4hours, were we went to the museum (it was raining) and checkout out the shops, and had cornish pastries for lunch. See our beautiful/artistic picture with out umbrellas :) After that we headed to Chepstow Castle (on border of Wales and England) and stayed there an hour. One guy on the bus was so pissed that he had to ask the bus to pull over on the highway so he could take a leak!
