Tamara's Travels
Outta London and off to explore England and Scotland
First stop - Warwick
A lovely, sleepy country town with a huge, intact castle - Warwick Castle. This castle is beautiful, from the gardens to the period rooms, decked out with orginal decore and wax figures in period costume. They also had on for the summer holidays a series of performances that were quite entertaining.
Some of this castle I remember from when I was here about 14yrs ago with my family. Mind you this time the weather was a bit warmer, it was December when we came, and well, it was marginally improved. Still could have done with a jumper :)
Whilst out exploring Warwick I receive a phone call, but unfortunately my phone kept cutting out so the conversation was continued when I got back to the B&B later that evening. Rob was in Toronto, and we organised to met up in New York at the end of August. How cool to spend my birthday with Rob in New York!! This would be an amazing birthday!!
Tuesday 17th August
Warwick Castle - some of it I remember vividly, other parts not at all. I remember the inside of the castle, the state rooms, to be bigger and set out differently. Strange I'm not that much taller than when I was here last *chuckle* It was super busy, and didn't seem to hold the same amount of awe-inspiring energy that I remember. A much as I enjoyed coming back, and it's a truly beautiful castle, I was a little disappointed that it wasn't the same.
For the summer season there was special events running at set times throughout the day in the gardens. These were quite enjoyable, and I love how things are put on mainly for the kids entertainment but they included innuendo's and comments especially for the adults.
Much to my disappointment Rob called to say the price of flying to New York from the UK had gone up by £200, putting the trip way out of practical means for me :( We were both very disappointed, guess it just wasn't meant to be, still would have been great fun.
