We had a VERY early start, dropped off the house keys with Neil's
mother-in-law and drove out to Malmesbury which took an hour whilst
praying the whole way that Garth's passport would be ready!
When we got there it was a stark difference to Saturday and was
completely empty and slightly scary. A policeman came in and walked
straight up to me and was like 'jfeiwojfeijwfeio' and I was like
'sorry I'm English' - I was a bit scared that he was going to arrest
me or something! After about 30 mins there Garth's emergency passport
was ready and to celebrate we had a KFC for breakfast! :-)
We then drove to the airport and handed back the hire car (which was
surprisingly easy given the break in a few days before). We had an
interesting conversation with the lady at the boarder check when she
looked at Garth's emergency passport. She said that he could have left
on his british passport, but the consequences would have varied
depending on who was at the boarder check. She said that someone might
just let him through, someone might give him a fine (the amount
depending on how they were feeling) or they could forfeit his South
African citizenship....its so stupid!!!! But anyways, we got through
and onto our flight!
The overnight flight didnt bear well with me and I got the WORST ear
infection I have EVER had, and i just spent the hour in Paris between
our connecting flights crying with pain!
