We packed and left Wendy's and PE by 9.30 and began our 650km journey down The Garden Route. I felt rather sad to be leaving Robyn, Craig and Andrew.
We stopped at Jeffrey's Baai and watched the surfing and ate a late breakfast at Wimpy's.
We then stopped at Storms River mouth in Tsitsikamma Park. It was very beautiful there with a rugged cliff coastline, violent waves smashing high on rocks, with beautiful flowers and dassies (rock rabbits) all around! Garth was very excited as he used to hike here as a boy. We did an hours return walk up to the suspension bridge over the river mouth. The water here is very dark due to the minerals from the river and the waters there are notorious for shark breeding...so I didn't linger long.
Storms river is where many people canoe and where Garth had gone down it in a rubber ring as a boy (he managed to avoid the sharks) but where sadly many people have died due to flash flooding as the river gets very narrow at points. this is the most beautiful place I've been so far in South Africa!
We then Plettenburg's Bay which is a posh town where a lot of polo is played! Here we had a very late lunch in a restaurant overlooking the famous hotel on the beach, where it rained cats and dogs!!!!!
We were close to Knysna but couldn't see it on the approach due to the heavy rain. We found our BnB easily and it was just lovely! The afrikans couple seemed very excited to have Taljaards staying...
Our room was pure white from top to bottom and was just perfect! We had tea on our dry balcony. We could see the bay but no further due to the rain.
We watched jaws in our room before heading out to an Ocean Basket restaurant for a late dinner, where we got rather wet due to the still heavy rain.
We watched a film called Silver Linings which was quite good before a very good nights rest!
