I got up and headed down to Southbank to explore. The area is next to the river and has really trendy restaurants and bars. As it was a really clear sunny day I thougt that I would go up the Sky Tower to get some good views. The lift takes you up to the 88th floor in less than 40 seconds, and once up there I could see the most amazing views. Melbourne is much bigger than I thought as the city has really large suburbs and I could see houses for miles. I could see St Kilda which has a pier and harbour and also the botanical gardens. I spent quite a lot of time up there admiring the view and taking photo's. When I got back to ground level I walked along Southbank again and stopped to watch a street artist and to people watch. Melbourne definitely has a cafe culture as there are so many people that are sitting out on the streets drinking coffee. It's such a great place as there's so much to see and it has a really laid back feel to it. I headed to Federation Square which has more coffee shops, galleries and sculptures and really interesting architecture. There was a stage with a band and another street artist, which was really cool. I really like Melbourne as it is the kind of place that I could really live as it feels really safe, there's lots going on and it has a really nice vibe.
I then headed to Queen Victoria Market, which is a bit like Camden Market. There's a huge meat market, fruit and veg market and a market selling clothes, souveniers and shoes. I'd read in the Lonely Planet that they do really good Bratwurst so I grabbed one of those and wondered around. I'd texted Finlay about meeting (I left it till late morning as I thought that he probably wouldn't be up till late morning) and was just waiting for him to reply. After an hour or so of wondering around the market I decided to go t PeterPans travel agency to book a Neighbours tour and go on the internet. I booked my tour for the Monday afternoon and then got a text from Finlay saying that they were going to Federation Square if I wanted to meet them. I arranged to meet them at 3:30pm when they were heading back to their appartment (that they're renting as they are in Melbourne for 2 months). I grabbed my bag from my hostel and met them down there. We dropped my bag and their very trendy appartment and then went to St Kilda which is a really trendy seaside suburb. We sat at the beach and watched all the kite surfers and walked past lots of really funky cafe's and bars and stopped to have fish and chips.
Jimmy was picking us up for our road trip at 6:45pm so we got a tram back to the appartment and arrived at exactly the same time as Jimmy. Me and the guys grabbed our things and then we headed off on our road trip. It was going to take us three hours to get there and we had planned to go out in Warrnambool, which is a small town along the Great Ocean Road. We picked up some goon and sprite along the way and Jimmy, Finlay and I started drinking in the car whilst Adam drove. We arrived at the hostel that we were staying in at 10pm and drank some goon in the room whilst we were getting ready whilst playing drinking games. We then walked to the centre of the town. It felt like a really long walk and we were starting to wonder if there was actually anything in the town as it seemed so quiet but we eventually spotted some bars. We found a club but as there was a huge queue we decided to go to the Irish pub for a drink. They had a live band in there so we danced along to some of the songs and had Sambailey's (Sambuca with Baileys shots). I looked out the window and saw that the queue had died down so we headed over to the club. After waiting for about 5 minutes we were told that they weren't letting anyone else in so we asked one of the locals who said there was another club around the corner.
As Jimmy was wearing long shorts the bouncer nearly didn't let us in but Adam sweet talked him by saying that we'd travelled a really long way and just wanted a drink and I chipped in saying that I really wanted to dance so he let us in. For such a small place it was surprisingly quite a good club. It had a dance floor upstairs and downstairs. Downstairs was playing some really good music so we all had fun singing and dancing. A guy came over and was dancing near me so Adam decided to have a laugh and told him to go for it so the guy started dancing in front of me and I started mouthing to Adam to help me and eventually he grabbed my hand and made the guy think that I was with him. I decided to get him back later by pinching the bum of a rather large lady though! We stayed in the club till closing time and whilst the guys were grabbing food I sat down and nearly fell asleep as I was so tired! On the way home we spotted a playground and decided to play. Unfortunately the zip wire was chained up so we couldn't play on that, but we found plenty of other things to entertain us! Jimmy decided to walk home as he was really tired after cricket but Adam and Finlay and I carried on playing on boats, slides and monkey bars. Finlay made us wet ourselves with laughter when he tried to get on a dolphin that swings back and forth and fell straight off as his weight made it go straight back. After an hour or so we decided to walk back and we eventually got back to the hostel about 4am. Jimmy was fast asleep when we got in.
