We got up at the crack of dawn to grab some pancakes before meeting our guide for our Fraser Island trip. We had to load all our things onto the 4wd and then do all the safety checks. There was the guides 4wd with 6 people with him who were the non-drivers, then three other 4wd's. Ours was a 6 seater whilst everyone else's were 8 seaters, which meant that we were able to put all our things at the back of our car to make the alcohol and food easily accesible, whilst everyone else had to put theirs in their trailer.
At 9am we set off to get the small ferry across to Fraser Island. We set up camp near Eurong and our group were proper scout wannabes getting fully involved in putting the tents up and making a communal tent and food. After lunch we went to Wabby Point and walked through Hammerstone sand blow which is a massive sand dune, which was amazing and then our group were pretty much the only ones to get in Lake Wabby. I'm not sure if it was the fact that the guide said there were Catfish who have posionous spikes or that the water was cold that put them off but it didn't deter us! It was really lovely and we swam around for a bit and then I stayed in and chatted to another girl swimming called Rachel who is English and is a nurse working in Sydney.
After our swim we went back to the camp to cook steak and potatoes (not bad for a camp meal!). We drank cider and goon and played drinking games. The card game involved making rules for whichever number card you picked up so when it was my turn I made a rule that you had to start dancing at the beginning of each song. It turned out that I was the only one that wanted to play that rule though! The goon is so strong that at one point I decided to lay down for a bit and then Orla suggested I take a nap so I reluctantly got put to bed! However, when Alex came to see me a while later I decided I didn't want to miss out on any fun so got up to join the party.
